Moments of Endearments Review

Hey Just TVB, while I work on The Comeback Clan review, you can read the past review that I wrote. I barely write review. My friend wrote a War and Beauty Review but I did not want to post it without his permission. This Moments of Endearments Review was a review I wrote in the summmer.

My own "Moments of Endearment" Review Yay!?

main casts: Paul Chun, Nick Cheung, Miriam Yeung, Louisa So, Michael Tse, and Gigi Fu

supporting casts: Kingdom Yuen, Felix Lok, Sherming Yiu, and Evergreen Mak

other casts: Kwok Fung, Mary Hon and Nick Cheung's stepmother and stepsister

Timmy Ho was a cameo in this series who plays Miriam Yeung's cheated boyfriend in the beginning.

Basically this series is a relaxing family series about love affairs.

My summary:
Paul Chun plays the good loving daddy (like his role in Family Man) who love his daughter Miriam Yeung. Even though Nick Cheung is supposedly the main character in this series, I would say Paul Chun is the main one since I see him shows up all the time. Back to the subject, after Kingdom Yuen got heartbroken two times and was divorced twice, Paul Chun is more careful of choosing a boyfriend for her daugher (Miriam Yeung). Paul's wife died long time ago so he loves his daugher very much. He worries about his daugther so much that he slacks on his work. Paul is an insurance agent. Louisa So (Paul's boss) got tired of Paul's laziness and lack of motivation so she told Paul to take a class about insurace to gain more experience. Because of Nick's excellent work, Louisa So told nick to join another group. Paul Chun misunderstood Nick of backstabbing him in front of Louis So. Unfortunately Nick dated Miriam Yeung at the wrong time, when Paul got to take a class, Nick got promoted. Paul used many strategies to seperate Nick and Miriam Yeung. Then Paul accepted Nick because Mary Hon (who plays Gigi Fu's mother) that he can't be so hard headed and have to let Miriam have more freedom. After Nick Cheung and Miriam Yeung got married, a few conflicts caused them to fight.

Character Analysis:

Paul Chun: He did a good job by playing a loving father and I can tell he really loves his daughter in this series. He also did a good job in playing a jealous man when he's afraid of losing his daugther to Nick. He pairs with Louisa in this series, and at first Louisa's father didn't accept him because a fortune teller(who is also a con man) tells Louisa's dad that Louisa can't marry any guy who has a zodiac sign of a rat. I would give Paul Chun a rate of 5/5 stars.

Nick Cheung: His character is nothing special, he is just a regular insurance agent who go to work to have money to take care of Miriam Yeung. I like the scenes where Nick and Miriam fights in the beginning, but it got boring after they are married. I would give Nick a 4/5 stars in acting.

Miriam Yeung: She is Paul Chun's daughter in this series and depends on her father after she gets married. She always goes to her father's house whenever she gets mad at Nick Cheung. But I gotta say she is pretty in this series with medium hair. I didn't think she was really pretty in "A Taste of Love" in her short hair. Her sub song in this series is pretty good. I would give Miriam a 3/5 stars in term of acting.

Michael Tse: A leftout character but is also important. He plays Nick Cheung's best friend in this series. He's a straight guy who acts like a female. His scenes are quite funny. He is gullible and too gentle so he got used by his ex-girlfriend (Sherming Yiu) many times. Speaking of Sherming Yiu, I haven't seen her onscreen since The Biter Bitten where she also plays a bitchy girl. Back to the topic, Sherming plays a model in this series who uses Michael to stop the bad rumors about her. I would give Michael Tse a 4/5 stars in term of acting.

Gigi Fu: She plays Michael Tse's girlfriend and Miriam's best friend and felt pity for Michael because he got used by Sherming many times. Gigi cares for Michael Tse and exposed Sherming's plan to Michael but he didn't believe her. In term of acting, I would give Gigi a 3.5 stars.

Louisa So: She plays Paul Chun's boss in this series. She is a highly motivated boss and expect everyone to work hard in her insurance company. At first she thinks Paul Chun is lazy but then she starts to fall in love with him. I will give Louisa a 3.5 stars in terms of acting.

Kingdom Yuen: She is Paul Chun's unfortunate sister who got divorced twice due to bad relationships. But luckily in the end she meets an honest boyfriend (Felix Lok) who listens to her and buy her the necklace that she likes. I gives Kingdom a 3.5 stars in term of acting.

Felix Lok: He appears in the middle-end in this series, he plays the honest worker and boyfriend of Kingdom Yuen. I give Felix 3.5 stars in term of acting.

Evergreen Mak: He doesn't have much screentime in this series, he is Miriam's cousin who is crazily in love with her but Miriam doesn't like him. He ends up with Nick Cheung's stepsister in the end. I give him a 3/5 stars in term of acting.

Couples:

1. Paul Chun and Louisa So: Funny that they are dating secretly because Louisa's father doesn't approve any boyfriend who has a zodiac sign of a rat beause of a fortune teller. Louisa's father really likes Paul (before he knew Paul was a year of a rat) because he brings him good luck but after Paul told him that he was the year of a rat, he was wondering if what the fortune teller was telling the truth. When the fortune teller met Paul, The fortune teller told Louisa's dad that Paul used to have a wife and he currently live with his daughter.

2. Nick Cheung and Miriam Yeung: This couple is too young to get married, I thought they got married too early in this series. I guess the scriptwriter just want show some conflcts between Nick and Miriam after they are married. The first fight between the couples was when Miriam went shopping and he foot got injured. Nick Cheung was played by a crazy old man walking around the street the whole day and pretending to be an insurance agent. Nick got mad at Miriam for not cooking dinner for him, Miriam got mad at Nick for yelling at her and not caring for her. I thought the second conflict about Miriam got mad at Nick Cheung for spending less time with her for work, and she was jealous of Nick talking to his ex-girlfriend was draggy and resolved too fast. They should have shown slowly how Miriam forgives Nick. The problem with this couple is they got married too early and they never settle their dispute and let each other explains their situation which makes them have some issues during their marriage.

3. Michael Tse and Gigi Fu: Funniest couple in this series. One funny scene I can think of was when Gigi and Michael Tse was arguing when Gigi accidently threw a magazine at Michael Tse. Another funny scene was when Gigi and Michael Tse goes to the same taxi, Michael Tse wants to go to work but Gigi wants to chase a charming dentist. Later on, Gigi is always there to help Michael Tse out and cares for him a lot. I felt sad for Gigi that Michael didn't believe her when Sherming Yiu pretended to have cancer.

4. Felix Lok and Kingdom Yuen: The most honest couple in this series who really love each other. Felix Lok bought everything that Kingdom Yeung likes but in the end when Felix Lok leaves, Kingdom cried so much because she thought Felix wanted to hide from her because she is too demanding. But it revealed that Felix went away to have a surgery and he didn't tell Kingdom because he thought she was sad because he didn't appreciated her tea and he doesn't want her to worry.

Favorite character: Paul Chun
I was against him of seperating Nick and Miriam all the time at the beginning but I can tell he really love his daughter. He saves all his money for his daughter and pay the house and buy food for his daughter after she got married. He barely spend any money for him.

Least Favorite character: Sherming Yiu for using Michael Tse so many times. The first time she used Michael Tse to stopped her bad rumors about being a slut. The 2nd time she used Michael to break Michael's relationship with Gigi.

*Favorite scene: When Nick Cheung was riding a bike to meet Miriam Yeung for their first date. Nick lost Miriam's love doll keychain on a lake. He went down the rocks to pick up their love doll key chain that Miriam gave him. Miriam was searching for Nick and worried about him. They finally found each other on the pond and decided to get married. I also like the sub song sung by Miriam on the background.

Romantic scene:

When Nick Cheung and Miriam Yeung danced with each other at the ball in the beginnning.

Funny scenes:

1. When Michael Tse keep on touching Miriam's hands and she felt digusted. Michael thought that Miriam liked her and he confessed his love and then Mriam yelled that she likes Nick Cheung.

2. Any scenes with Michael Tse and Gigi Fu together is funny

3. When Nick Cheung told his customer that Paul Chun is really good at playing golf and he keeps on praising Paul Chun. It's also funny how Paul and Nick keep on messing up their customer during their meeting, because of personal reasons.

Ending: Good Ending and gather all the couples together in a restaurant. Glad Paul Chun won best Daddy award on Father's day.

Must watch: Watch it if you are a fan of Paul Chun and Michael Tse. Don't expect a huge role of Nick Cheung in here. I would recommend this series if you want a relaxing family and love series.

I would recommend this series for the fans who like series like Love Bond and Family Man.

I would rate this series 4 out of 5 stars because of the strong casts and good series but -1 star for rushed ending of the love couples.
