The TVB 54th Awards Ceremony will be held on 2 Jan 2022, how time flies and we are into another year! Hope everyone stay safe and healthy, year 2020 and 2021 have not been a good year for all of us. TVB has released the list for top 5 nominees unlike past years of 20 over nominees for the coveted award category.

TVB Best Actor

My thoughts:

Support Shaun Tam to win best actor for his role as Sze Kwong in Take Two. Both Kevin Cheng and Owen Cheung stand a chance as well. If Owen gets it more like its promoting him to lead actor material.

TVB Best Actress Award

My thoughts:

Support Ali Lee for Best Actress, have neither like nor dislike her, her acting as AI robot is very convincing, hope that one day I have a robot at home that can take care of all the cooking and housework, that will be super great ^_^.

TVB Best Supporting Actor Award

My thoughts:

Most remembered character is Rocky from AI Romantic played by Tyson Chak and villain IT genius Jonathan Cheung in Sinister Beings.

TVB Best Supporting Actress Award

My thoughts:

Support Moon Lau for her performance in Take Two, she also did well in The Line Watchers as the work life balance housewife cum Madam.

TVB Best Male Character Award

My thoughts:

If Shaun Tam did not get Best Actor Award, Best Male Character award would be his unless its a double win. Quite like Billy Luk character in AI Romantic as well. Have not watched A Love of No Words, unable to comment.

TVB Best Female Character Award

My thoughts:

Perhaps Linda Chung for her character as Doctor Eman in Kids Lives Matter since she's back in Hong Kong to attend the anniversary awards. Linda has never gotten any awards since Most Female Improvement Award in 2006, high chance its her.

TVB Best Male Improvement Award

My thoughts:

Maybe Hubert Wu? Karl Ting is dark horse as he's well promoted in TVB.

TVB Best Female Improvement Award

My thoughts:

Jeannie Chan? Time to give her some credit for filming so many dramas.

TVB Best Drama Award

My thoughts:

Personal favourite is Sinister Beings and Take Two. Please stop giving medical drama the attention since Life on the Line and Big White Duel, police crime and thriller drama are more interesting than Kids Lives Matter. Which 2021 drama is your favourite, leave a comment below!

P.S. For Best Onscreen Partner Award got to be Kevin Cheng and Linda Chung in Kids Live Matter.

Brief summary:

As time passed, the appearance of Kwan Ho's biological father stirs up love and hate among the three generations. Man Cho, Kwan Ho and Sito Lai Sun are brought together by destiny, their sibling bond exceeding that of family affection which complicates their relationship.

Brief summary:

Many people die as the old-fashioned tenement Wai Lei Building abruptly collapses. Engineer Sze Kwong (Shaun Tam) has conducted a survey of the building. He arbitrarily investigates the incident as he reckons the building collapse is shrouded in intrigue. While the incident is being unraveled, Sze Kwong’s girlfriend Cheung Man (Gloria Tang), who is some property developer’s lawyer, dies in a traffic accident. And then his younger half-sister Auyeung Ka Shun (Angel Chiang), who has the same father, meets her death. Sze Kwong is also silenced. Sze Kwong comes round and surprisingly returns to somewhere in time before the building collapses as the deity has given him a chance to live again! Sze Kwong suspects the building collapse has something to do with property developer Hong Wing Yan (Gilbert Lam) and his mentor Ying Yiu Wa (Timothy Cheng). He also wants to prevent the disaster from happening. To avoid implicating Cheung Man and Ka Chun, Sze Kwong decides not to recognize his younger sister to start with, and he also does not go out with Cheung Man. He just covertly watches over the duo.

Brief summary:

The story starts with Ho Ka Yan (Elaine Yiu), an editor for an online media company, going undercover to join a running club in hopes of discovering juicy gossip and old skeletons in the closet. She meets her coach Yuen Lik (Joel Chan), who alienates himself from other people due to past trauma.

Despite his unapproachable exterior, Yuen Lik is eager to help friends in need and supports Lai Shun Fan (Max Cheung), who has a chronic illness. As Shun Fan gives up on himself, Yuen Lik steps in to take care of his friend’s son. In the journey to get Shun Fan back on his feet, Yuen Lik is forced to face his own demons and learns to let go as well.

Further complicating their friendship is that Shun Fan and Ka Yan had dated in the past, and she still has feelings for him. As time goes on, she also grows close to Yuen Lik and falls in love with running.

Meanwhile, Ka Yan’s good friend Kwok Pui Yee (Tiffany Lau), the daughter of rich businessman Kwok Wong Po (KK Cheung), joins the running club with ulterior motives and seems to hold a deep grudge against Yuen Lik.

As the characters grapple with their own pasts, they learn to find the courage to let go and become better versions of themselves.

My thoughts:

It's the time of the year again, congratulations to all the winners!

So happy that Sisley Choi won Best Actress Award, have been supporting her since 2015 drama Young Charioteers though her acting at that point of time was criticized pretty badly, now she has gone against the odds to prove her ability to win Best Actress. Kind of expected for Vincent Wong to clinch the Best Actor Award as Raymond Lam was not present in the Awards Ceremony. There goes the chance for Raymond to win Best Actor.

Special shout-out to Hubert Wu's The Exorcist's 2nd Meter subtheme "凡人不懂愛", didn't know the music of the song was composed by Hubert Wu himself. It's a truly nice song with meaningful lyrics.

For the Most Popular On-Screen Partnership, if Vincent Wong, Owen Cheung and Sisley Choi were to be nominated for Legal Mavericks 2, they would have won hands down.

It's a joke that Al Cappucino won Best Drama as compared to past winners for Best Drama Big White Duel and Life on the Line. The plot for Al Cappucino is interesting at the beginning but as the story continues, it became draggy and uninteresting, it's more like the actors and actresses are saving the failed storyline.

Better chance for Joey Law and Mark Ma to win Most Male Improvement Award next time.
