August 18th was Jessica Hsuan’s fortieth birthday. She was filming TVB series, The King of Ten Thousand Phoenixes <萬凰之王>, and received a basket of one thousand roses on her birthday.
Jessica’s co-star, Macy Chan Mei Si, was excited by Jessica’s flower basket and took photos on her cell phone, which she shared on her blog. Macy wrote, “This is the first time in my life that I have seen one thousand rouses and I was quite shocked! Although the roses were not sent to me, I was very moved by the gesture!”

The press contacted Jessica, but the birthday girl has not responded yet.

Brief summary:
Set during the Tang Dynasty of China, Can't Buy Me Love tells the story of the Third Princess of the Tang Emperor (Charmaine Sheh), who is beautiful but very unreasonable, and, as such, no one wants to marry her. The Kam family is the largest gold manufacturer in Beijing, but because they are deceived, the business runs into troubles. The second son of the Kam family Kam Tuo Luk (Moses Chan) has to marry the Third Princess to save the family business, because then they will have the right to manufacture gold pieces for Palace,

The Princess brings lots of servants to the Kam family after marrying Kam Tuo Luk, and constantly comes into conflict with the members of the Kam family (Lee Heung Kam, Susanna Kwan, Selena Li). The Princess originally decides to leave the house, but when she misunderstands that the Kam family speaks negatively of her, she stubbornly stays. Later, she and Kam Tuo Luk fall in love. When the Kam family is convicted of a capital offence, she divorces Kam Tuo Luk to secretly save the Kam family.

My thoughts:
Comedy drama, hope the chemistry between Moses and Charmaine is good. This series was noted as "Beyond the realm of conscience 2" but a different plot set with similar cast. Can't believe that Linda and Fala would have to play the role of Charmaine's servants. Any comments about this new series would be appreciated. Thanks. ^_^

Raymond Lam Fung and Joey Yung Cho Yi promoted their new film, The Jade and the Pearl <翡翠明珠> in Guangzhou yesterday. Over ten thousand fans queued outside the packed theater to see Raymond. One of the female fans was invited onstage to ask Raymond a question. In her excitement, the female fan lost her voice and could not speak. Another fan rushed onstage to take a photo with Raymond. TVB executive, Virginia Lok Yi Ling, was also present to support Raymond. The crowd was very lively.

In The Jade and the Pearl, Joey Yung has a crush on Raymond. Producer Ng Yu joked and said that Joey wanted to add a kissing scene with Raymond. Joey retaliated by saying that Producer Ng was best at distorting the truth. Since The Jade and the Pearl is a comeback film for both Raymond and Joey, the pair said that they do not mind sacrificing for art, as long as the sexiness gives off an artistic mood.

Tavia Yeung Yi, Raymond Wong Ho Yin, Ruco Chan Ching Pang, Natalie Tong Si Wing, Louis Yuen Siu Cheung, Louise Lee Si Kei, Matthew Ko Kwan Yin, Lau Dan, and Li Sing Cheung appeared at the costume fitting for TVB’s new series, The Truth (真相).

In The Truth, Tavia will portray a lawyer. When Tavia was younger, her mother had hoped that she will become a police officer, teacher or lawyer. Even if she had pursued advanced education, Tavia knew that she may never become a lawyer. Through her role in The Truth, Tavia will be able to fulfill her mother’s dreams. Among the professional roles, Tavia has not played a doctor yet.

Admiring the script for The Truth, Louise Lee agreed to guest star as a woman who suffers physical battering from her husband. Louise said, “I don’t understand why women who are beaten by their husbands do not leave them. The women should not tolerate nor condone domestic violence.” Louise indicated that she will research domestic violence cases to prepare for her role. The media asked whether Louise will consult with Amigo Chiu [due to his physical dispute with ex-girlfriend Elizabete Kwong]. Louise said that arguments between couples do not qualify as [repeated] domestic violence cases.

Ruco Chan will be in a love triangle with Tavia and Raymond in The Truth. Playing a heavy role as an upright lawyer, Ruco admitted that he felt pressure. He was excited to have the opportunity to work with a talented cast such as Louis Yuen and Li Sing Cheung. He also praised Tavia for being a ratings guarantor and was not anxious about the series’ future broadcast performance.

My thoughts:
Today's 9 Aug 2010. Happy 45th Birthday Singapore!!! Back to the topic...This show reminds me of "The drive of life". A role breakthough for Bosco I think, being 2-faced good and bad character. Anybody knows who Toby ends up with? Hopefully not with Bosco. Love the subtheme (we are well) by Raymond. Check the DL link page for free download. Feel free to post any comments. Thks.

Bobby Au Yeung Chun Wah and Jessica Hsuan have been frequent co-stars. Due to their similar personalities, sometimes they will restrain each other. When they work together, there is endless laughter and they are the best onscreen partners.

Possessing both a successful career and a stable love relationship, Jessica announced in the past that she would not film ancient dramas in the heat of summer. The only exceptions Jessica made were for co-stars, Bobby and Sunny Chan Kam Hung. Jessica admitted that Bobby was her best onscreen partner, “Filming series is an arduous process. We can not control the ratings, but at least we can select our co-stars. Whether the filming process is enjoyable is very important. Bobby is a very cheerful person; you will laugh just looking at him. He is just like Garfield the cat!”
As a punctual person, Jessica complained about Bobby’s late habit. Bobby protested, “If we agree to meet at 3:00 PM, Jessica will arrive at 2:58 PM since she has no where else to go! But now she has a boyfriend. One time, we agreed to meet up to watch Nick Cheung Ka Fai’s The Beast Stalker (証人). I purposely arrived early and watched as she called me. I told her that I was right behind her, scaring her silly!”
Jessica seems to be especially tolerant of Bobby’s lateness, setting the limit at half an hour. “Men do not have to apply such elaborate make-up prior to filming. So it’s okay for him to arrive a little later.” Bobby pursued the argument, “Jessica and my wife are the same. They do not believe in having other people wait, but then they end up waiting on the street instead!” Jessica said, “I’m just being punctual.” (Even if you knew your co-star would be late, you still arrive early?) “If I know the person well, we will communicate this issue so that he will not be late again. Otherwise, I will nag him.” (What about co-stars that you do not know well?) “The director will usually speak up about late arrivals. I will not speak out even if I am very upset; next time I’ll rather not work together with that person again.” Another drawback about Bobby’s personality was his lack of seriousness. Fortunately, the pair worked happily together. Bobby added, “If I’m running a little late, Jessica will start making a series of calls!”

In fact, the filming for Pillow Case of MysteryⅡ(施公奇案Ⅱ) was perhaps Bobby’s most strenuous project. Filming in the extreme heat and without adequate sleep, Bobby almost suffered a heat stroke in an outdoor scene, but had to follow-up immediately with filming in the studio. Bobby said, “I even slept without removing my ancient headgear. I was very tired and irritable from the filming. Fortunately, Jessica and Joel Chan San Chung consoled me and told me to slow down. That’s why working with incompatible co-starts would be a big problem!”
Jessica appears to succumb to Bobby’s every demand. What did he appreciate the most about Jessica? Bobby joked, “Jessica has a great body and she’s beautiful! Her great figure is often covered up [by loose clothes]! She has a generous heart and will take in stray cats and homeless men, haha….” Jessica immediately protested, “Many men said that their women do not need to have an overly big chest.” What did Bobby dislike the most about Jessica? Bobby imitated Jessica’s low voice and said, “’Where are you?’ If she doesn’t see you, she will call you in an upset voice and ask where you are. It’s very scary!”
In a stable relationship with veterinarian boyfriend, Ruan Bester, for the last year, Jessica admitted that they considered each other to be ideal marriage partners. She was not in a hurry to get married, “We have been dating for several months and will continue to observe each other as we date. I will not be bound by age as a reason to get married quickly.”
What did Jessica learn from Bobby’s loving marriage with Fu Kit Lan? Jessica laughed, “Haha…without children, you can have a lot of freedom! Bobby and Fu Kit Lan are very compatible and sweet together. They like to dine out together and enjoy life. As long as two people make decisions together, then it will not be the wrong decision.”

Although Bobby appears to be a “nuisance” in many aspects, Jessica was never upset by his antics. During the filming of Recipe for the Heart (美味天王), Bobby had to wake up an unconscious Jessica by spitting at her face. He threw an entire pail of water on her instead. Jessica said, “My underwear was soaked entirely! But I could only laugh uncontrollably. I quickly re-applied my make-up and continued with filming.” Bobby said that other fadans would not have been so forgiving. “You can tell by just looking at them! While filming Files of Justice V (壹號皇庭V) , I could tell that Jessica had potential when it came to playing pranks.”

Kevin Cheng Ka Wing and Bernice Liu Bik Yee filmed a kissing scene for Home Army (居家兵團). Due to angle requirements, the pair had to kiss four times in a row! In the scene, Kevin professed his love for Bernice’s character and they kissed passionately.
Prior to the kissing scene, Bernice freshened her breath. “The freshener I used had a lemon scent. I was about to offer it to Kevin, but he had already used a strawberry freshener. When we kissed, the flavors mixed and it tasted like a fruit basket!”

How did Bernice feel about kissing Kevin for the first time? “I did not feel anything, but I don’t know how Kevin felt!” (Was it a good kiss?) “It was okay. Kevin and I only have one kissing scene in Home Army, much less than my previous collaboration with Kenneth Ma Kwok Ming in The Mysteries of Love <談情說案>.” Pointing out Kevin’s age, Bernice said that she will not pick a partner who is significantly older than her.
Recently, the media has been pursuing Kevin endlessly, since he avoided attending former music mentor, Dai Si Chung’s funeral. Earlier, Bernice was photographed going out to sea with a male friend in a group setting. Tabloids immediately said that Bernice was cheating on rumored boyfriend, Moses Chan Ho. Despite being plagued by recent rumors, this did not affect Kevin and Bernice’s performance onset Home Army.

All along, she reasoned that Dominic Lam (Wing Tak 榮德) is bound to be implicated in the disappearance of her husband. However, there was no evidence against him. She tried to wrote letters to the top authories but got hindered by Dominic who in turn accused Yuen Qiu of being a lunatic and be sent to the mental hospital. Helplessly, Yuen Qiu had to place the matter aside and focused on raising the children.

One day, her elder and second son had been kidnapped by some children smugglers. She searched high and low for them and finally found them in a railway. While she caught hold of her second son, her elder son was still in hostage. In the end, the train left and Yuen Qiu and her elder son was separated.

After many years, all the children grew up and helped out in the martial school. One day, the youngest adopted daughter, Natalie Tong (Ying Ngan-Ming 應雁鳴) saw Kevin Cheng (Koo Yue-Cheung 顧汝章) in the streets who bears similar resemblance to her adopted father.

The Koo family was excited having managed to find their elder brother. They clustered around Kevin and showed him past photos of their father as proof. Kevin refused to believe what they said and become annoyed with them while he is tendering to his sick mother who was in fact the children smuggler. Kevin's mother was persuaded upmteen times to reveal the truth to Kevin but to no avail. Kevin was extremely annoyed at the Koo family's action and create a havoc at the martial arts school telling them off not to disturbed him and his mother anymore.

It was not until Kevin's mother was seriously sick in her deathbed did she tell the truth. Kevin began to gradually accept the Koo family and finally reunited with Yuen Qiu. In one of the family get-together, the Koo family discovered a long-lost medicine recipes passed down by their grandfather. They decided to expand the business and further establish their branding.

Rival Dominic who was also in the pharmaceutical industry for many years was jealous of the Koo's family thriving business and tried means to bring their business down. Luckily, with the addtion investment of Angela Tong (Chow Fong-fong 周芳芳) and her husband Ram Chiang (Leung Cham 梁湛), the business is able to survive.

The second son, Kenneth Ma (Koo Yue-tong 顧汝棠) was initially the youngest martial arts fighter in the seven states. However, because of his vigorous training, he become short of breath easily and required medication. He is on good terms with his doctor, Selena Li (Wing Tsz-ching 榮芷晴) although her father was Dominic.

A great discovery was made and the Koo family found out that Kevin has extraordinary strength in this arms and hands and has a good potential to learn martial arts. His mentor, Ram has been training Kevin extensively for the upcoming tournament. Coincidentally, Dominic's son (Wing Man-kwan 榮萬鈞) had also participated in the tournament. In the end, both Kevin and Jacky had to face-off one another in the finals. Jacky who followed his father footsteps, had resorted to despicable means to get what he wants by asking one of the martial arts disciples to poisoned Kevin just before the tournament. In the end, Kevin won the tournament and he was the champion of their state. Jacky was very upset and confronted the disciple who was later beaten to death by him as he failed to poison Kevin.

The Koo family was angered by their disciple's death and knew that it has something to do with Jacky as one of the management board members saw how the disciple was beaten by Jacky. However, his testimonials was not valid as he was in the state of drunkness. Moreover, Dominic heavily bribed the police inspectors to help Jacky. However, due to increased public pressure, the police had no choice but to arrest Jacky. Dominic later devised a plan and tricked one of his men present at the crime scene to admit to the crimes committed by forging a medical report that the person contacted cancer.

Unfortunately, things did not go as smoothly as expected. When Selena was examining the accused, she secretly stolen his medicine. After an anlysis, it was found out to be some heavy doses of heart disease medicine that is not suitable for normal humans and would cause nose bleeding and symptoms of cancer. Selena was very upset and is at a total loss of what to do and she could not bring herself to betray her father and brother. In the end, she resigned and left to another state to continue her doctor profession. Kenneth was concerned about Selena's sudden intention to leave and save her in the nick of time when she was about to commit suicide as she could not contain her mix feelings of guiltiness anymore.

Finally, Jacky was prosecuted and sentence to death. Surprisingly, he manged to escape the death sentence by hiding under the ground with a decoy used during the death trial. Thereafter, he gone into hiding and constantly trained himself in preparation for the seven states tournament championship. Dominic has planned this evil scheme all along.

In the finals, Kevin face-off with Jacky again although the public do not know that Jacky's true identity as all of them believed that he had already been sentenced to death and he was only someone who beared resemblance to Dominic 's son. Jacky cheated in the tournament again by consuming more than adequate amount of drugs. After a fierce battle, Ram threw a white handkerchief to be out of the game. Kevin was strongly against Ram's descision and was determined to win. Ram later died of heart attack after the tournament due to accumulated internal injuries.

Meanwhile, Dominic paid an unexpected visit to the Koo family and finally told them where their father's body was hidden. The children can finally pay their respect to their father. The truth was finally revealed. The murderer of their father was actually Kara Hui (Cheung Sheung-chu 蔣上珠), Dominic's wife who shot their father. However, the fatal shot was by Dominic. To prevent the Koo family and the martial board members to tell the truth, Dominic kidnapped Natalie and their loved ones. Everyone felt threatened and refused to go against him. However, they managed to pluck up the courage and testify against him. Dominic was then sent to jail.

In order to find out the whereabouts of Natalie where Dominic refused to say, the Koo family is in cahoots with Jacky who was already partially handicapped to tricked his father to convey where Natalie's is being kidnapped without food and water for a few days. In the end, Kevin managed to find a lethargic Natalie and quickly brought her to the hospital. Also, there is a happy ending for Kenneth and Selena.

My thoughts:
This series clearly reflects the bond among brothers and sisters. It is vital that one should be united to stand up at any odds so as to overcome it. Anyone who watched this series are welcome to comment. Thanks. ^_^

Focusing on both television series and the music industry this year, Fala Chen is quickly catching up with Charmaine Sheh Si Man for the Best Actress prize! Currently filming in Hengdian with Roger Kwok Chun On, Charmaine praised Fala, “She is a very nice and hard-working girl."
Was Charmaine concerned that she may not win the 2010 TVB Best Actress Award? “Each year, the awards ceremony takes place. It is unimportant whether I receive awards; I just hope to give a good performance in each series.”
The temperature in Hengdian soared to 39 degrees Celsius earlier. Ten members of the crew grew sick with the cold. Charmaine fell sick as well and recently returned to Hong Kong to see her doctor. Roger Kwok suffered a slight heat stroke as well. Roger said, “It was so hot, I couldn’t stand stably! This is the first time I am shaving my head for a series. Charmaine helped shave my hair; she said it was a lot of fun!”

Since the filming schedule of Some Day will be much more comfortable than Rosy Business 2, Wayne will have the opportunity to simultaneously film ads to earn extra income. Recently, Wayne completed an ad for a restaurant. Did Wayne include his family in the project? “No, my son has more homework assignments in middle school. He can not always participate in endorsements.”

In his past films and television series, Raymond Wong Ho Yin was always relegated to being the second male lead. After acting for fourteen years, Raymond finally took on the lead role, acting as Ken Cheng Tak Si’s son in When Lanes Merge (情越雙白線). Never focusing on the weight of the role nor awards, Raymond said, “I only hope to star in a role which the audience will still remember ten years later.”

In When Lanes Merge, Ken and Raymond’s onscreen explosive characters often lead to frequent clashes. During the filming of the series, Raymond was already confident of the depiction of this unique father-and-son relationship, as he was emotionally moved by the script as well. “Prior to filming When Lanes Merge, I already knew Ken Gor. I have to thank him for teaching me many things on the set, including how to read the script, how to face the camera, and other tips on reciting the dialogue and acting. In addition, Ken Gor likes to visit internet forums to read about the audience’s reactions firsthand. Perhaps some netizens leave irresponsible comments, but they provide a direct sense of the audience’s reaction. I find it to be very useful. Did the audience enjoy watching the series? This is another matter. After filming a series, I will not denounce the script and will reflect about it afterwards.”

Taking Things Step by Step and Waiting for the Right Timing
Raymond attracted the recognition of Director Johnny To and entered the entertainment industry, appearing frequently in his films. In the last few years, Raymond turned his focus to television and acted in TVB series. “Since entering TVB, my screen time in When Lanes Merge was the most significant. I did not think about it too much, as I enjoy working with Ken Gor. W collaborated earlier in A Watchdog’s Tale (好狗出更), but we did not share too many scenes together. In When Lanes Merge, we filmed together from the beginning to the end. I truly enjoyed the process.”

“After entering TVB, I did not consider the weight of my roles. This year, I have many series which will be broadcast, such as Rosy Business 2 (巾幗2) and Can’t Buy Me Love (公主嫁到). My screen time in these series is more significant than previous projects. Although I played supporting roles before, I did not give up. Joining TVB for three years, my work load has not been minor. Opportunity also needs time to develop. TVB is a large organization which needs time to observe me. It also takes time to develop a working relationship. Right now, the relationship is ‘maturing.’ I hope to continue to harvest good results.”

Some artists will fight to get noticed. Although Raymond is not lacking ambition, he does give the impression that he is the dedicated type. “Each person is different and many things depend on timing. If Raymond Wong were to star in a Hollywood movie now, do you think it will work? To a certain extent, I feel comfortable now. After observing you, TVB gives you more work, which is good incentive. I am not without hope, but I do not want to fight with others. Within my position, I want to create something [through my acting], allowing me to pursue my own direction.”

Do Not Want to Create a Savage Child
In recent years, artists without long-term TVB contracts, such as Wayne Lai Yiu Cheung and Sheren Tang Shui Man, received awards at the TVB Anniversary. However, Raymond does not see the awards as awe-inspiring. Last year, Raymond was nominated for the Most Improved Male Artist Award. At 2009’s TVB Awards Ceremony, he attended with a playful spirit. “I hope that one of my series will receive an award this year. This is a greater accomplishment as it is a product of team work. It is not based on your own efforts, but requires many people working together. I will not dwell on it.”
“In the past, one of my past performances was remembered after ten years elapsed. Before the end of the year, I will have two more series released. I am also confident about my recent roles. My wish is to have my role remembered for some time afterwards.”
Over the last few months, Raymond has filmed non-stop. An artist films on average ten episodes per month. This year, Raymond has already filmed one hundred and thirty episodes. At one point, he only slept one hour every night. Returning home, he acted like a dead corpse. Raymond’s wife was very understanding and waited for him to return home every night without complaints.

Raymond does not want to have any children yet. “Eventually, I want children. However, my filming schedule will be busy until February 2010. I do not want the child to become a savage because I did not have time for discipline. You have to teach children carefully so that they will survive in society.”
“The new generation of children is very weak and complain a lot. Some of my friends treat their children like gods and will kneel before them, begging the children to eat. The children will not eat without the television on. If that’s the case, I think they do not have to eat! There are no black and white rules, but the new generation is very spoiled.”

Raymond Lam Fung’s concert series, “Come 2 Me Beauty Live On Stage,” kicked off last night. He changed into several sets of costumes and danced sexily with Kate Tsui Chi San and other female dancers. He even invited female fans to join him on the onstage bed while singing love songs.
Dying his hair white on the sides, Raymond wore a shiny jacket and white pants while opening the concert performance with the song, “Hello.” Accompanied by four sexy female dancers, Raymond made his entrance by driving a silver sports car onstage. One of the dancers, Chung Hei Man, resembled Kate Tsui. The other female dancers touched Raymond’s chest boldly while engaged in a hot dance sequence.

Kate’s Sexy Performance Set Off Climax
Kate Tsui joined Raymond onstage next. He touched Kate’s back and waist freely and even ripped off her outer jacket, revealing a metallic bra top underneath. Kate often arched her back during the hot dance sequence, causing the audience to scream in excitement. Ron Ng Cheuk Hei joined the pair onstage and had a dance-off with Raymond. Afterwards, Raymond said, “I want to thank my two brothers, Ron and Kate. I do not treat Kate as a girl because she has such a straight-forward personality!”
Singing Joey Yung’s Tender Love Songs
Suddenly a bed was brought forth on the stage. Raymond invited female fans to join him on the bed, while singing and hovering over them. Four female dancers changed into black underwear and the theme became heavily S & M. After the scintillating dance, Raymond sang several of Joey Yung Cho Yi and and Janice Vidal’s tender love songs.
Kelly Chen Wai Lam was the VIP special guest and performed together with Raymond while holding hands. Sharing a deep embrace afterwards, Raymond joked, “Kelly, thank you for wearing flat shoes tonight!” Kelly said, “I’m afraid there would be leaking water on the stage!”
As the concert continued, Raymond played with fire and water and set the performance to a high point. During the encore session, Wong Cho Lam came onstage and quipped, “When I was growing up, I set Raymond as my target. Whatever he did, I wanted to do. But his concert kept adding more performances and I didn’t even tell my gags yet!” Cho Lam assumed the role of Angelababy and Chrissie Chow Sau Na’s fans and told several gag jokes. “In the past, I mistakenly called Raymond Lam as Famma. This year, I mistakenly called Kate Tsui Chi San as Tsui San [phonetically similar to 'chui sam' which means 'take off clothes].”
